Some years ago we bought a Kitchen Aid Artisan kitchen stand mixer which we seldom use. The design and colors of the machine are really outstanding, but the poor quality of its components and mechanical design turn it more into a piece of decoration rather than in a cooking tool: some months ago the machine got broken when Mrs. Rddoc was kneading some (not very stiff) dough int the bowl, using the hook mixer as indicated in the manual for such a purpose. After autopsying the machine I found that the movement transmission is by means of a pinion / crown made of PLASTIC... The replacement part was hard to get, and I eventually had to buy a similar part from a similar machine from Kitchen Aid to adapt it. Last evening I grated cheese for making a fondue (which was praised by our guests) observing that if I exceeded what could be considered as a very light pressure, the metal shredder not only shredded the cheese, but also the internal part of the housing (opposite to the feeding port).

This happens just because a designer (with no idea of mechanics) designed a fancy part which proved to be completely useless.
Machine will soon be posted for sale on Ebay
