How Does M.O.B. Vac Work?

I saw a model of Wet/Dry vacuum cleaner on the web with its motor on bottom. Does someone know how those models work? How is it possible that the motor suctions air or water without sucking water from the drum when it's full?

If a vacuum cleaner draws in some water, the water typically is heavier than air, and thus it falls to the bottom of whatever chamber. The vacuum cleaner most likely draws from the top of the chamber, thereby taking in air. (Unless the water fills up too high.)

Do you mean something like this?

For this I would guess the internal air intake is above the water and auto-shut off is when the water/ debris reaches the intake.

Most of them have a float ball that blocks the suction as the water rises...

It has to be the motor and vacuum fan at the bottom necessitates a rise tube to the top where this tub in enclosed by the filter housing, the collection tub rests above the motor and will have baffles to prevent water entrainment to the filters.

Alert! ...of course the patent is available.

It seems the motor is at the base and a pipe runs up through the center that contains the intake and float valve. the exhaust is drawn down though the center of the unit.
