Someone Who Knows Tool Manufacturing

11/08/2016 12:53 AM

I just noticed something stamped on my ratcheting combo wrench. Does anyone know what this means. It's the "N" with lines going out the top and right side - just to the right of the Husky logo.

Do you know how old this wrench is? It might be when Husky was bought by National Hand Tool in the 80's...over the years different owners have given serial numbers and letters for various reasons...Just a guess...It was a short time because Stanley bought it in '86...

The wrench was purchased about a month ago. I bought an entire set and each wrench has the stamp on it.

I remember seeing this stamp somewhere else. Maybe on an older Craftsman tool?

this is a guess, but some companies have different manufacturing locations or even manufacturers. That may an identifier of manufacturer or location.

Possibly batch or inspector marking. Just an educated guess.

Possibly a location and date stamp. If you check out others in the store when you next go in, you may see a different position for the lines. Yours indicates 12 and 3. Yr. and mnth? Is one line longer? Just a guess. Jim

Interesting thought. I'll check next time I'm in the store.
