Product Seen at IHACI Trade Show/Company #1

11/20/2016 1:09 PM

There were many different companies I saw at the trade show, I am not familiar with the companies or the products they offered so I thought I would ask engineers or technicians here about them.

There isin't exactly a consumer reports magazine where one can read about companies products.

1. Wohler USA. This is a German company that manufactures mostly handheld testing instruments. I went to their website and read about when the company was founded and by who.

Have you used their products and how would you rate them ?

Some things I noticed at the show: their booth was very sparse, most people looked but not many inquired, they had several test instruments on plain fold out tables.

5 Hutchinson Drive Danvers, MA. 01923

info@wohlerusa.com / www.wohlerusa.com

The " O" in wohler, has the German grammatical symbols.

I believe I mentioned, a website. Have you ever purchased a piece of equipment and thought it might be good, only to find out it was not really what you wanted, then you got to resell it. You pay $10.00 and can only get $5.00 for it.

The real question: Is the test equipment pertinent to your work, and does it do the job better than competitor X, in a way that is cost effective for you to own it?

If you can answer that question affirmatively, then the decision is made.

Thanks Mr. Steward for your reply. I think you said you work at a power plant. If you wanted to buy a pump, per say, how would you go about finding out if the unit was reliable, other than looking at sales literature and you didn't know anyone who had purchased one of those pumps ?

You would not be so willing to change vendors from those you had experience with.

As to testing equipment, our I&E personnel have a close ear to the ground about what is new out there. There are some meters they simply will not buy, for example. Especially if they do not meet NFPA 70E category requirements for the voltage sources they will be working on. There are some, even with the claim by the vendor that category is met, these guys just will not trust their life to.
