They could have done a lot better with 'Sophia' had they used motion-capture (aka 'mocap') of a live human reciting this script. Sophia's motions were programmed and so bear a much closer resemblance to those of 1970s automata a la DisneyWorld. Mocap would make Sophia's motions appear a lot more realistic.

I think the whole idea is for Sophia to develop her own personality, not just mimic others....

The last question about warfare has grim implications given the instability of the incoming US administration during this unsettling period in human history.

Well the cyber threat is not new, it has been ongoing for over 10 years now....the main problem to begin with is that proper security measures were not being taken by corporate computer users....A new department was created in Homeland security at the time to partner with major corporations to address this threat, and has been ongoing ever since....

I would like to see perhaps a filtering system that intercepted all internet traffic analysed the content for potential threats and gave a go or no go decision, with perhaps the no go traffic going to another computer system for further analysis and so on and so forth until a determination could be made that would be a dead end with a kick back to the origin until a certain number of these kick back's would trigger a block for that source....A network of supercomputers with AI sophisticated enough to accomplish this may not exist at this time but should be under development at this time....running the code being sent to check for red flag behavior should be doable, it's just the amount of computing power that would be needed, and the pipelines for the information to flow through would have to be huge....

Now this may or may not be doable, but the rapidly changing nature of the internet and computing in general makes it very difficult to keep up with at this point in time....Eventually I would hope we would hit some sort of plateau where programs evolve to a point where change slows down and the security measures can catch up....until then I think everybody should be aware that this threat is constant and ongoing and take appropriate measures to safeguard your systems, both personal and corporate.....as a natural learning process as people become more and more internet savvy these threats will I think diminish as do all threats with education and vigilance...

Rapid change always presents opportunities for bad players to capitalize on, eventually the law catches up, until then it's the wild west....

S.E. I have 3 questions, I thought about and I would like your comments.

1. I recently saw a report that said astronauts going to Mars would suffer from muscle and joint degradation. Do you feel an exoskeleton system is a viable and probable option.

2. If a soldier on the battlefield was severely injured, is there a possibility that this, " science ", could or would be implemented to put him/her back into the fray as quickly as when we take our cars in the auto repair shop.

3. Will there be a new Olympic program composed of mechanically equipped athletes.

1. No....the muscles and bones need opposition to maintain strength...artificial gravity is the answer, and radiation shielding...

2. The whole idea of virtual warfare and mechanised armies is to take the humans out of harm's way...

3. Human enhancement by other than normal means negates the level playing field that exemplifies the Olympic ideal...

'Moon' is far more realistic and convincing than 'Sophia'. I realize that the questions and likely responses were probably refined much earlier, but it isn't just the speech or delivery. She ties it together so naturally.

I'd be all for this if the potential for abuse weren't so very great. What a fab way for the long arm of the State to reach right into family home, for example, to subtly modify your kids' values to conform more closely to what the State thinks they should be. To report back to interested parties (including advertisers and other corporate interests) what the kids say to the toy. And you know that will happen too. I'd be all for this except for the faceless humans who might also be part of the loop behind-the-scenes.

It's already happening in China...but skip focusing on just the kids.

This is one of the things I am completely okay with China 'getting there first.'
