Heating air

11/15/2005 9:21 AM

I'm a mechanical engineering student. I want to know how can we heat large volumes of air to high say 1500-2000K temperatures using electricity.

hi, But you have not menstioned whether you want to heat ait in chamber? I think it is possible to heat it a chamber only. For that you have to install a electric heater of the appropriate capacity in the chamber and circulate the air in the chamber with help of air circulating fan. It is adviced to install a temperature controller to contol your temperature at the desired set point.

hi, thank you for reply. i also meant heating in a chamber. according to second law of ThermoDynamics, a heat pump would do a better job than a heater.can you please specify which type(specifications (for say 20 kg/s of air)) of heaters/heat pumps would be efficient.

Specify volume of air and what Product you need to heat. Is your heating chamber batch type or continuous.
