PC Problems with Standby Mode

08/16/2007 7:56 AM

I have an a1226n HP desktop(Windows XP home edition),shortly after purchase, I noticed it would not go into stand by mode. HP blamed it on widows and windows blamed it on HP. After a few weeks I found a setting to prevent PC from wakening at the airport. I thought it was a mistake, but placed a check mark in do not allow box. This corrected the problem, until I set my PC back to factory spects, now problem is back and I cannot locate this window. ---- Any ideas?

I'm not sure but this might be what you're looking for:

You go to your desktop and righ-click on a blank space. Select "Properties" and you'll get the dialog box on the left (Display Properties). Click on the Screen Saver tab and click on the Power button. That will give you the Power Options Properties.

Hope this helps.

The other way to get to the power saver / sleep settings is to put the PC into diagnostics while it is booting up - there should be a message that says "Press F10 to enter diagnostics" message, or some such. This is a more dangerous route as you can *really* scrog the PC in diagnostics mode, but there it is.

I would upgrade to win xp pro and dump the home edition. also whats really neat is that my logitech keyboard; LX700 has a sleep mode button, easier to put into sleep mode when ready for bed
