Capacity of Unloading Pumps

Dear All,

In one of our project , customer has requested for 300 m3/hr unloading pumps (150 m3/hr x 2 nos working) but the number of unloading tankers are 10 numbers only( Tanker capacity will be 25 kl max).

I feel that the capacity indicated in very high for 10 numbers of road tanker unloading and suitable for Railway wagon unloading.

Another project have similar capacities and it is wagon unloading.

I suspect Cavitation can be issue if unloading capacity is high and only 2 or 3 tankers are unloaded.

I request every one to provide me some suggestions what are the issues If unloading capacity is high .

25 kl is 25 m3, so each pump can fill a tanker in 1/6 hour or 10 minutes. It depends on how much time you want to spend on each tanker. The added capacity might be good if the number of tankers increases in the future.

What size is the unloading pipe/hose?

At those flowrates, it had better be no less than 8" if the fluid in non-flammable and 12" if flammable, just so there's no problems downstream with static electricity.

It sounds as though the Client is talking out of his arse making unrealistic demands.

Hose diameter is 80 DN.
