That's not S.E.'s link, that's mine autoplaying (below). I posted not knowing this particular video autoplays. It's very annoying. Sorry 'bout that but I didn't know.

I finally figured out how to pause it. It seems that the next fool that opens thread while I am still "in the box", causes it to reopen and start playing again.

I needs a numpty button.

Seems these "get in your face" autoplay-style videos are the latest rage on cheesy sites like CNBC. It's the same shite they use to force video adverts on viewers - some videos of which don't even have a pause button. Trust me, I'm just as annoyed as you are.

I posted the video as a courtesy, not knowing it would do this. I've reported my comment to the mods with a request to remove it.

cheesy fakey, what else is in their tool box? hmmm...

I discovered fake nachos this last weekend. I went to cook some corn tortillas, only to find they had been in the ice box too long, and were starting to grow fungus around the edges, so I threw them out and used Kellogg's corn flakes, 4 blend cheese, and bean paste (refried beans as we know them), and it was not that bad.

At least wifey can eat that.

A 23-pound projectile at Mach 7. That comes to about 30 megajoules.

Roughly the kinetic energy of a three-quarter-ton pickup truck (4500 kg) moving ~260 MPH.

Whatever's on the receiving can kiss its arse goodbye. Wow.

I make it point not to click on an AP's link, never know you can get infected with

I don't know what browser you use but my browser (Chrome) shows the actual link text when I hover my mouse over the given link. They are the same and lead to a CNBC video of a recent ICBM interceptor test. Pretty cool video, actually. The interceptor missile was launched from Vandenberg and hit the ICBM dead nuts.

I can't do anything about it and posted not knowing CNBC's videos do that until it was too late. I'll ask the mods to remove the video.

This is the same video the OP links to. Some here expressed discomfort at opening a link posted by an AP, and so posted the video directly. Alas, it turns to be one one of those autoplay types.

How many decoy warheads are needed to defeat this anti-missile missile?

the interception occurs outside the atmosphere long before any warheads are dispersed.

Why do you think warhead decoys from a MIRV cannot be deployed in space? The letters I and R in MIRV stand for Independent Reentry.

So does NK already have MIRV capability? I think the next test they run should be made to return to the launch pad (at high velocity).

Re: ballistic advance

NK has had mixed success even getting their missiles to complete a test flight, much less having the complex tech needed to deploy and navigate MIRVs enroute. To date their nukes have been underground tests which do not require the miniaturisation needed for launch capability. This will change of course but right now any such launch would be very likely be single-warhead.

An ICBM's boost phase lasts only about three minutes. The MIRVs (along with decoys and chaff) are deployed at the end of the boost phase and well before any re-enter the atmosphere, and it has long been known how difficult this makes for an effective ABM system. For what it's worth, I don't think this test is necessarily attempting to address the problem of multiple warheads, however. Given the timing, I suspect it is much more a demonstration intended specifically for N. Korea's Kim Jong-un's benefit.

Just a hunch.

One what? Torpedo? Missile? Submarine? NK (if they had any sense at all, which seems doubtful) should realize that any further hostile-appearing action on their part could result in retaliatory strikes coming from a number of countries that are tired of their lame BS.

Apparently, neither you nor they (NK) is aware of our secret program for just such items. It is so secret, I don't even know about it.

We sleep very soundly at night, knowing that our defense forces have all their capabilities focused on this mad man, and surely pray that he is totally sleepless (for now). His dirt nap will come soon enough.

I wouldn't think NK is a major treat to the U.S. Will they have enough rocket propellant to hit the US? I doubt it. But this ISIS treat is a great risk to the masses, selling their religion in place of decapitated heads.

ISIS is not a religion, it is a perversion of one major religion and is really only an assemblage of lunatics bent on self destruction whilst causing as much mayhem all around them as possible. You should be very concerned.

We will destroy ISIS (dash). They will be obliterated and removed from the book of names. The Muslim Imams are already (finally) disavowing them burial rights (recitation of the prayers, etc.). The days of ISIS (dash) are numbered and dwindling.

There was a song in WWI: "Over there, over there!"

You can look it up, and listen to it, to hear how real men fight.

He doesn't need to threaten the U.S. directly. The U.S. has friends and allies in the region, including your country. He phuques with them, he phuques with the U.S. Period.
