06/14/2017 4:36 AM

Dear all

good day

We have low voltage motor (IM B35).but this motor is mounted perpendicular in the

site.

please what is the effect of changed the mounting form on the motor.because there

is many type of (IM) like (V15,V17,V36,B5,B5) etc.in other words are there any

effect if we installed motor type (IM V15) horizontally.

thanks for all

According to this document

www.naewoielec.co.kr/pdf/leroy_01position.pdf

The "Bs" should be mounted horizontally and the "Vs" should be mounted vertically.

But I don't know if that's just because of the mounting hardware?

The only reason I can think of that may dictate the orientation is the lubrication arrangement.

A google search for "induction motor mounting" gives loads of results. You can add "IM V15" for example to the search.

Best to ask the motor maker. Problem is ... no-one else knows bearing types & loadings or whether bearing cage is held in place by rotor weight etc. Horizontal rotor may hunt back-forth & damage bearing.

This motor type has been designed for horizontal mount only....there's a reason for that...since they also make a vertical mount type motor it's a safe bet that you can expect premature failure if you ignore the instructions....

What orientation is the site? Is the site vertical and the IM B35 mounted horizontal, or is the site horizontal, and the motor mounted vertical?

I would say, put it back like it was, originally, and wait for further instructions from the OEM.

That is re-assuring, because I was worried about personnel slipping down the vertical floor, LOL.

I think if you want the motor horizontal, you will need a 90 degree gear box, else you might have to turn the world on its head.
