That particular error code doesn't seem to be in the manual. You will likely either need to contact Alstom directly for advice or fill out the RMA form listed in the manual and send it back to Alstom (or their local dealer) for inspection and repair.

";106 Keyboard (Japanese)=0x0c020007"

Wrong keyboard input...You might try setting your relay on a compatible language...

No magic there at all SE just did a search for "0x0c020007" the line he found is from a configuration script for Citrix ICA Mac Client and is not related to the Schneider document he links. Significantly the line of code he quotes:-

";106 Keyboard (Japanese)=0x0c020007"

Is commented out, that's what the semicolon is there for.

I'm not having a go at Solar by the way: he does have an unbelievable ability to find stuff.

What is the relationship between Schneider and ALSTOM?

Is MiCOM a product name?

Looking at this list of error codes

www2.schneider-electric.com/resources/sites/.../Px40_Error_Codes_InOrder2.xls

0x0C0200?? look like Flash memory problems.

If there is a JTAG port on the "unit" it may be easy to reprogram the FLASH.

Now we have conflicting answers. I put money on the wrong keyboard language.

Does this relay have flash memory? Really? Shows you how little I know about relays.

Whatever "it" is: if it has the ability to output a 6 digit hex error code I'd say it was odds on it has FLASH.

No argument from me. I am just not familiar with such a relay at all.

As someone who has worked with the series, lets just say there are better quality alternatives available out on the market.

I opened the manual off the GE website (Alstom) and wowee what a long and complicated manual that is. I never did find the code that OP was referring to, and it did not resemble the codes related to flash fail non-boot.

My next question: you put one of these on every motor in a plant? Why? WTF is going on out there?

These little motor protection relays (or similar) could be pretty widespread in a large plant, say a paper mill or a generating plant with lots of large HP motors (presses, mills, circ pumps, vent fans, etc.). I've been in plants to do testing/calibration on similar, where I have had 50-100 relays in my task list. So it's not unusual.

I work in several power plant locations within our organization, and I have yet to see one like this installed.

Remove all PT and CT connections to the relay, switch off control supply and switch ON control supply after Few seconds, check relay operation.

Check configuration. Have you enabled the relay for functions

This is extract from error code explanation for P243 rely from schneider.

Only thing is error code indicated is 0x0c020000 and 0x0c020022.

"Indicate the FLASH memory driver found a corrupt logical zone when it tried to initialise the FLASH memory. FLASH memory is used to store relay settings and other non volatile data. FLASH memory is fitted to the main processor board which is located within the front panel. The relay should be returned for repair but if this is not practicable the front panel should be replaced."

So the flash memory on these is hard mounted to PCB? I can see why it would not be easy to remove and replace. The whole front end panel of the thing must go, and be replaced.

FLASH is reprogrammable: it's a type of E2PROM (Electrically Erasable Programmable Read Only Memory; I know that's a contradiction in terms).

FLASH in lots of things like smart phones and satellite boxes gets reprogrammed automatically under processor control; on other things there is often a way to manually connect a PC and force an upgrade, either by one of the normal system interface ports, or, some PCBs have a 10 way pin header which you can connect a small programming or diagnostic interface to.

I prefer to erase EEPROMs with gasoline. It works every stinking time! Not much good on the re-program though.
