Issues Managing Apple Music Files

06/27/2017 1:39 PM

Hi there! I listen a lot to previously downloaded music (mainly on my Android Phone and Apple tablet) cause I use to be in areas with limited or no acces to data / WiFi.

I also listen at music on a Mac Pro, and a PC.

For the last years I had a subscription to Spotify, which was great, but after a certain time I eventually ended listening more or less at the same music most of the time.

To get some "fresh air" I quitted Spotify and subscribed to Apple music. The next day I noticed that Itunes had uploaded all my music (from the PC, Mac Pro and Tablet´s HDD ) to "Icloud".

So far, no big deal. For some days I listened to the music streamed over the app, and even "downloaded" a couple of songs to my phone.

Last weekend, while having no access to data of any kind I tried to listen at some music but it was all gone!

"All" does not only mean the music "rented" from Itunes, but also my own music (which had been backed up to the cloud).

The titles, artwork, etc from each song were there, but it was just an empty shell; cause the music was somewhere else and required access to the web in order to play it back.....

I understand that while subscribed to Itunes the user can download music into each of his devices, whereas this music will not be sinced to the other devices the user has, but remain locally stored.

On the other hand the "rented" music as well as those songs previously stored on my gadgets should to be played back without access to internet.

In your experience: are these "issues" normal or is there something wrong in my config.

That is about my entire opinion of the cloud. Here today, gone tomorrow.

Mass media personal on site storage is my preferred modus operandi.

Stored in the "cloud" means stored on someone else's computer. That doesn't make me feel safe. I keep all my music on thumb drives. I know where it is when I want it.

Good man, although we all have already had the discussion about backing up a system (very frequent read/write) using thumb-drive.

I am thinking CD, preferably operated in a room with no cats, cat hair, dogs, dog hair, children, or children hair. And for Dog's sake wear a lint-free cotton white glove during handling, and be sure not to scratch the surfaces.

Stored in their plastic boxes, and the boxes stored hermetically in a constant (low) humidity constant temperature (low temperature also) room, they should last more than a myriad of weeks, maybe even a lustrum.

It seems to me as they upgrade the software they vacate all the storage(or most of it), you then need to download your songs to the device again...It can be maddening at times trying to find songs you know you have, but have been moved without your knowledge...It's very frustrating, but I have found itunes, and apple in general, to be continually problematic...They take a high-handed approach that I find disrespectful and disruptive...I have a huge music library that is now spread out all over the place through no fault of my own, other than using itunes....of course I do have backups to fall back on should I need them...but having to keep organizing my music across 5 devices is really pissing me off....

Cloud storage makes perfect sense for my old Commodore 64. (The 2400 baud limitation would still byte.) With a 2 TB external hard drive costing under $80 US, I see no advantage for an individual to store personal files on a cloud.

I'm the same as everyone else. Why rent when you can pirate and keep for free!

Well it's not so much as pirating but more mass buddy systems sharing. I let a friend have a copy of my music collection in turn for a copy of his and so on.

Over the years I have amassed about 25K - 30K songs if not more given unlike my friends I keep multiple backups of my collection so that whenever a hard drive does go out I don't loose everything and have to start over.

Its also a good way to put old low capacity 80 gig hard drives to good us that I have swapped out of computers to add far larger ones.

I subscribed to Imusic cause I was told pirating is a bad thing so far, Itunes seems to have pirated MY music!

Hoist the flag and put a salvo across her bow mate....(that means a software update is coming)

Surrender your music or prepare to visit Davey Jones locker ...(that's where they keep the encrypted files)

How come we don't rise up, pitch forks in hand, and assault the executives who engage in these "crafty" business practices, and teach them how to ride a rail while wearing the latest in tar and feather fashion?
