07/28/2017 4:58 PM

The simple genius of this method of water storage is apparent...as are the results...

Yep, don't get the price tag either.

Around here $125K would get a person several miles of 6 - 8 inch lay flat commercial hose plus a whole lot of smaller hose to run out to feed multiple stupas that would make it possible to store up hundreds of acre feet of water over even only a few weeks, or less, with these sort of concept.

The thing is with the larger hose line freeze up is far less of a problem simply due the flow rates and mass of water involved given the surface area Vs cross sectional areas of the hoses.

That's how they move huge volumes of water for miles in the oil fields here for fraccing work even in -20F winter temperatures.

Maybe they have a plan to run pure grain alcohol into the lines when frozen and needed some extra $ for the distillery..

When the ice plug is opened.. Happy hour.

It always rains on someone's parade, doesn't it?

What a scam this turned out to be. I thought the part about the farmers and the creation of the educational university were the most interesting until I read the last line.

The storyline on that CNN website should be:

Entrepreneur dupes prestigious Rolex organization into providing funds to create high desert saloon for local and visiting drunks.

What strikes me about this sort of thing in general is, why do we go to great lengths to make it possible for people to live where people shouldn't be living?

Sometimes I wonder if we have 'run out of useful things to do' there as well.

Do you really think this will work on the beach in Florida? So it's all gone by mid May. That is usually before we need any in Colorado. And how do you get it from the ice pile to your lawn or garden? It looks useless to me.
