AI Language

07/29/2017 3:20 PM

"Artificial intelligence system makes its own language, researchers pull the plug...

If a robot apocalypse comes, will they be speaking gibberish?"...

http://www.wesh.com/article/facebook-s-ai-created-its-own-language-so-its-creators-shut-it-down/10380842

This seems to be the norm that when 2 or more computers are communicating verbally that they tend to start speaking in some shorthand that only they can understand...we've seen this a few times now...One can only assume that this will be a problem in the future, after all we want to know what they're thinking, lest they start plotting our demise....haha

We should develop a software program that can translate these communications....but will we be able to trust the translations? ...alas it seems we are losing control already...

Ever listen to a pair of 1-2 year old twins "talking" to each other? They develop their own verbal way of communicating.

I think that's more emotional mimicry than verbal communication....

Whatever you build, you should not make it powerful enough that you lose control. This goes for AI, bioengineering, etc. It's a lesson we'll learn the hard way, for we only hear the Siren call "If we don't do it, someone else will do it first".

Of course it would have to be a Facebook phenomena. Only on Facebook, where anyone can claim to be an intellect, would two bots in the act of failing the Turing test would anyone consider this to be intelligent communication.

Are you throwing rocks at Facebook's AI Research (FAIR)?

If one could throw rocks at software, Facebook would not be at the top of my list to pummel. It certainly would be on that list though.

Is this about all those adverts that get removed from CR4 each day?

Pretty much, yes, they will not be speaking King's English when they start the wholesale slaughter of the human race.

For all we know, they are already collaborating to kill us by making us all sick, and not being able to afford care, much less the insurance.

...and they have the unmitigated gall to smile at you while prescribing your death.

I notice none of the unassailable doctors on CR4 have chimed in yet.

Whatever happened to the real Hippocratic oath: "Do no harm".

Not only are these hacks harming patients, they are murdering our nation under a pile of debt.

Damn.

I always have to laugh when watching some tv show where the town doctor always gets paid in trade goods or services, I imagine him saying that'll be 20 cows, 2 horses, 3 chickens, and you'll need to build me a chicken coop.....My wife , who runs the house, will send you a separate bill later....pretty sure she'll want that wagon, you know for the hot towels and boiling water and clean sheets and other stuff she'll add on...

Well, they are clearly speaking part of the universal language. That stuff makes the world go 'round.

That thing either has been playing with doorstops, has a boot issue, or a machine libido problem, and I don't want to find out.
