I learned to play barely adequate snooker, pretty good table football, ah my pull shot was something to behold. I met a beautiful woman at a party, became a man and left uni' after 2 years. (She's Mrs Cat now)

Oh..the University?.. it was out of date with stuffy lecturers and pretty much irrelevant. A supposed 'Applied Physics' had no application...

A lecturer had a right go at someone who was shooting elastic bands at another student... fair enough you might think...

But he said he should grow up and get used to the real world...

How wrong he was!.. In the real world in real industry...people will still shoot elastic bands. And may it always be thus!

Del

"You are the Master of your FATE

And the Captain of your SOUL"

May be or may-not be.

If you went to University College to get inhouse knowledge for your not-too-profitable family business ,concentrate on what will later be useful to make more money!

If you went because that University was near and Convenient -then look out for something Futuristic--Enter earliest!

If neither--do as Del the Cat did.

Float and Enjoy!

Your Society/Country/World Politics/Economic forces will swamp you irrespective of what you try to learn at Final Year of Engineering College.

I think you should think about the industry and the kind of bussines on wich you'll like to be when you get your eng. title.

I've had just a year with my eng. title...in my case, my final yaer project was relative to the oil industry and automation, now days i'm working in a oil company. Some of my classmates did their final year projects about networking and telematics, now days they are working over companies of that bussines areas.

You should project yourself... what would you like to be in the near future?, in what kind of company you'd like to work? you'd like to make your own bussines in wich area or field of electronics?

Well I took four years to get through 1st year Elec engineering (alcohol, sports and girls may have been involved). I paid for myself so I don't feel too bad and it was great fun. When I got married and a bub was coming I had to get more serious and eventually finished. I would recommend it to anyone. Jeff

Hopefully the bit you recomend is the ,,,' married and a bub was coming '.

It certainly focusses the mind more than college!

Hi,

I agree with Christian Casas' advice.

I did my project on High Voltage Transmission Line Designs, I ended up designing a model of a transmission system with application to my province, it was tough but challenging. I also did a small PLC Project for my Control Systems class.

These projects have given me the edge at work. I work for a manufacturing plant as a Plant Electrical Engineer.

Funny responses, but all very true! You get out of it what you put in to is the theme here. However, there are bad universities and good universities. I started out in a bad university. They wanted to keep you a Freshman for as long as they could to soak more money out of you. I switched to another university, after three years at the bad university, and finished my degree in one year. At the bad university, it was going to take me another three years!! The bad university would fill up classes that you needed to advance, then not offer them the next Semester!! No matter how fast I got my schedule request in, these classes were always filled and closed! I even went to the professors of the classes to try and get in, nothing doing! Enough venting, think of something you like, decide if it would be something you would want to do for the rest of your life, at least for the next 10 years anyway. I did mine on radio wave propagation, now I work in photonics!
