It's in Westport WA and is designed to withstand a 9.2 earthquake and a 40' tsunami. The shelter can accommodate up to 2000 people in a disaster.

That totally destroys my childhood dream about the school getting wiped out by a natural disaster (on a Saturday).

GA

And I hope they don't need it anytime soon.

That's correct ( psst, I'm glad you got it before S.E. did ! / don't tell him I said that. ) I saw this building on the same site as the survival ball.

I thought the idea behind the building is moving in a new and better direction, especially with the hurricanes down in Texas.

Yes, your survival ball post made me think this was some kind of disaster shelter. I think I would rather be on this roof then locked in a ball, bouncing off of all kinds of stuff during a tsunami.

Then again, living in Michigan, it would have to be a mighty big tsunami to hit me.

Clever of them to make it look like a big animal's face. Children will love or hate it. Daily maw.

It will also look really cool as it emerges from the tsunami waters..
