Ground Fault Factor

01/27/2018 6:43 AM

What should be the Ground Fault Factor for the following systems:

i) Solidly Grounded

ii) Low Resistance Grounded

iii) High Resistance Grounded

iv) Low Reactance Grounded

v) High Reactance Grounded (Peterson Coil Grounded)

This is is connection with the Selection of rated voltage for Lightning Arrestors/Surge Arrestors.

Please do not suggest any manufacturers' brochures/catalogues. I have seen enough, but could not get a precise reply.

Recently an internet search engine produced 982,000 results on this topic, among which the required electrical expertise may certainly be found.

Please refer IS 3043 1987 (reaffirmed 2001) . You may get answer for all your earthing problems in that . Normally I follow this IS for all my earthing requirements and that is acceped by Electrical inspectors. IEEE standard 80 2000 for safety for Substation grounding is another reference I use for my Earthing problems.

hello, i don't know from which country you are coming from but what i will suggest you is to look for your electrical inspector. He knows the rules and regulations of your electrical board more than us; especially in earthing.

"I have seen enough, but could not get a precise reply."

Maybe that's because there's not a precise answer to such a horrendously broad group of general questions.

These sound like test questions of interview questions, not real life situations!

You may find this paper useful, depending upon the level of analysis you wish to use.
