Question on Web Handling - Technology Issues

12/07/2005 8:47 AM

Alan Sabir-Mian writes:
I was wondering if you would be able to help me understand some of the current challenges involved in web handling as a manufacturing process from a control systems perspective, in designing processes to minimize or eliminate defects and losses in the mass manufacturing of different products from continuous strips of materials.

Could you able to help me understand some of the current challenges encountered by manufacturers employing web handling technology ?

I would be very grateful if you could assist me in my inquiry. I look forward to hearing from you at your earliest convenience.

Web Handling Issues

There are a number of sources close to the industry that can help you. Their trade journals and web sites will contain articles about issues. Their editorial staffs should also know what's on their readers' minds. Advertisements give solutions to what may be presumed are real problems. TAPPI (www.tappi.org) serves the paper and other web industries. The Web Handling Research Institute (http://webhandling.okstate.edu) specializes in web handling issues. Converting magazine (www.convertingmagazine.com) serves the web printing, packaging and labeling industries. PFFC (pffc-online.com) serves the paper, film, and foil processing industries.
