Paco Flow 9000 Duplex System, Contactor Issue

02/04/2018 4:51 AM

I have this Duplex Booster System, one lead and the other main pump. I have issues with chirping contactors(lead pump) in times of demand. What is causing this seemingly unusual sound. Anyone experience this type of trouble before. I'd be delighted to hear any inputs. I thought about the pressure switch.

Maybe a little lubricant in the right place...

This could be the contactor :- dirty pole faces.

It may be the supply voltage being too low - not likely if the other contactor is operating correctly.

It may be the pressure switch:- hysteresis set too low, this is often adjustable with an electronic switch but not always with a mechanical one. The contacts on the switch may be defunct causing arcing and subsequent chattering of downsteam components.

An easy way to check would be to temporarily bypass the pressure switch and see if the problem persists. If it does, then the switch is not the culprit, if it doesn't, then find out why the switch is misbehaving.

Another possibility is an unwanted foreign object lodged in the contactor somewhere.
