Looking for Engineer to Work with Me on Smartwatch Project

02/04/2018 1:10 PM

Hi Everyone. I'm a 3d artist with vast range of experience in various fields in 3d. I am looking for engineers who might be interested in working together on various projects. Currently I have few tech ideas that might be interesting and challenging. I'm planning on creating new tech products, designing, rendering and working on a single prototype (using 3d printing in parts) and eventually running on kickstarter or other funding platforms with presentation and advertisement. At this moment, I'm just looking for associates interested in tech, and open for discussion and possibly long term association.
At the moment, I have a very simple rough draft of a smart watch that I can't figure out on the mechanical parts. And there are many more challenges with the concept.
I'm going to model a full high poly 3d model after I figure out with the concept and working mechanisms. We will make realistic product renders and animations. 3d print possible parts and buy others. Build a working prototype. Anyone interested, please let me know and we will have a chat. I will share my rough draft and hopefully we will learn something new

A few words of caution.

I can't help you but, there are many cheap "smart watches" on the market, already. One I know of for $20.00 USD that works OK for simple functions.

If you think you have a marketable concept, protect it until you can be first to market with it, or obtain a patent.

Be careful of patent trolls as well.

Definition of Patent Troll from the Intellectual Property Glossary of Terms

Non-disclosure agreements are useful, if dealing with ethical persons.

Good luck.

Presumably, anywhere on the planet will do?

Try calling a few recruitment agencies and talk the issue through with them with a view to hiring the people needed.

I do not look to hire people. At least not yet. Looking for enthusiasts who are also interested in tech industry and are competent or are up and coming engineers. Who are open to experiment and learn in process. Of course if we are able to push this ambitious idea to fundraiser, we will split the revenue within our small group fairly.

Here is the problem with your request. First, the young, up and coming engineers are trying to pay off college loans. They can't afford the time and effort.

The older, more experienced engineers are fed up with working for nothing. And lastly, you did not offer any details on the "split the revenue". Let me guess: 90% for you and everybody else gets to split the remaining 10%. That simply does not float.

Lastly, you need to do you fundraising first to be able to pay for good help. Otherwise you are way outside reality for how things work. Gotta run.

Have you considered posting a message on engineering colleges students boards.

Lots of students come here eager to learn new things.

The nearest local university may be able to help.

I admire your ambition.

Many a Smartwatch available today was designed and manufactured by Apple, Garmin, Hyundai, Motorola, Qualcomm, Samsung, Casio, TAG Heuer, Seiko... These are some deep pockets and deep talent pools indeed.

I cannot recall a successful product in this segment manufactured by an entity named anything like 'Rafael and His Buddy'.

Good luck!
