Incremental Encoder Magnetic

can a single incremental magnetic encoder be used for two ouputs. like we connect 2 outputs of a plc to the single encoder. what if not.. if yes what are pros and cons

If yes, cons: It will be a total waste of time and effort because nothing will happen.

OK, if you hook the 120V PLC power cord output to the encoder, you'll let the magic blue smoke out of the encoder.
