From Engineering360: Letter to an Engineering Student

02/08/2018 2:49 PM

I know at least two CR4 members saw this article on Engineering360. Posting the link here in part to reach the students who follow the community chat and in case any of you missed it. Doorman and Brave Sir Robin left comments for Roger; I encourage you to do the same if you're so moved.

You will be required to take some physics, chemistry and biology courses indeed.

Understanding the concept is truly important. Most students will think, just I am sure I did, that "I will never use this stuff ever". However, understanding is the key to later learning. I can't recall how many times in my early employment years I had to refer back to all these basics, relearn them and consequently remember them as I could now see "why", as they were necessary for the jobs I was doing.

Very encouraging letter. Hopefully it will guide some.
