Power Transformer

03/05/2018 12:51 PM

Greetings

We have 8nos of 80mva power transformers & we r planning to do installations of all accessories of transformer first then we will go for vaccumming, oil filling, leak test, filtration, normalize then precom testing, so as per manufacturer if we installed 1st transformer before moving for 2nd transformer manufacturer recommendations to fill N2 in maintank at 2psi(positive pressure)

Planning to fill from maintank conservator

Conservator as aircell bag which will b kept open (atmospheric pressure will come out from air cell)then N2 will be filled from air bleeding pipe of conservator and will open main tank buchlozz relay valves and oltc valve will b closed (ie., only will n2 in main tank of transformer)

So please share your views,i was planning to do like i this is it ok or not

I don't see why not as long as you are careful and don't let any atmospheric air and potential moisture or contaminants leak in to the transformer during the N2 filling.

Then carry out such precautionary measures as are necessary to avoid this potential problem.

Discussion should be taking place with the manufacturer over the telephone, and not with a bunch of random strangers on a global Engineering forum. However well-intentioned the bunch may be, if the manufacturer's advice is incorrect then some commercial redress is available, which is not the case with the bunch of random strangers.

Good point, I don't know what pressure your transformer is rated for.

Best to contact the transformer manufacturer for guidance.
