Stacks of Coins Turn into Art

I don't understand why these sculptures work. They're pretty interesting.

Watching this was like watching someone build a dog, one hair at a time...

I hadn't seen this technique before, of mounting the object on a surface that spins... nice trick, but hard to watch ....where is emoticon for dizzy.

"...I don't understand why these sculptures work..."

This comment from the artist was in the article you linked.

"...何の取り柄も無い私の、唯一の特技をご覧下さい。 ..."

.

Could be cyanoacrylate if as he claims his special skills have nothing to do with it.

It reminds me of the "overhang puzzle" or "Leaning Tower of Lire"

The first eight blocks in the solution to the single-wide block-stacking problem with the overhangs indicated

In the video, he stacks one and at the end knocks it down - so he does have the ability to make them stand without glue (not as sure about the vertical coins between stacks but it is not impossible).

Of course he would need cyanoacrylate if he wants to turn stacks of art into cash.
