Tanusree, These questions are best answered by wikipedia/google. Just google them.......and you will get elaborate answers. 1.busbar==> copper bars which carry current in panels. 2.Main bus ==> Term associated while synchronising generators. The voltage of the generator which is already on load with be considered as Main bus voltage, and this voltage is compared with the next incoming generator. 3.Transfer bus==> Term associated with data transfer. 4. Switch yard==> A yard ( for HV/MV equipment) where all switchgear is installed like circuit breakers, Transformers, etc and is fenced for protection. Good luck !! Chaterpilar

Transfer bus is also used to describe an intermediate connection between 2 main buses. It is usually used during maintenance or other short-term outages to equipment on a main bus. They are fairly common in U.S. distribution substations built before 1940.

Bus is a shortened version of OMNIBUS meaning 'for all'.

I would still elaborate the terms as discussed by Chatterpillar

1 . Bus Bar - its used for transmitting power from one end to other as a replacement for cables . Depending on power requirement they are classified into different sizes.Small rating busbars are found in DB,s and they are made of copper . High rating busbar have tap off unit and they they are fed from transformers to various SMDB,s on each floor . They cannot be bend like cables and has to run straight .

2 . MAin Bus - This term is used in when you want run multiple genrators in parralel . The generator on load is connected to main bus and the incomer generator to match the frequency and phase sequence of the main genrator

3 . Transfer Bus - An interconnection between 2 seperate data bus used in ring topology of networks for transmitting data betweeen 2 nodal points

4 . Switch Yard - A yard for housing the assembly of main and auxillary switching apparatus for opeartion, regulation , protection or control of oter electrical apparatus . I consists of 2 room HV and LV rooms .

Any other information u need on electrical services u can mail me
