	IEC 60034-1 7.5 Voltage (peak and gradient) withstand levels, states: For a.c. motors the manufacturer shall declare a limiting value for the peak voltage and for the voltage gradient in continuous operation. I have not found anywhere what the peak and gradient limits mean except well-known formulas in physics: E=-grad(V) and Vpeak=sqrt(2)*Vrms. The gradient formula means we have somewhere-on the motor surface or in the insulation two points of different voltage [or potential] and second is referring to a sinusoidal wave. __________________ Julius
