Is Mechatronics Different From Robotics?

05/29/2018 8:37 AM

Mechatronics is combination of electronics and mechanical design. Robot is one of the well known example of mechatronic system. Robots are designed by using software programs, electronics and mechanical designs in a proper way. Digital thermostat and anti-lock brake system are also examples of mechatronics system. These mechatronics systems are first designed as mechanical systems and then improved with an integration of electronic controls and digital computing elements. Robotics can be considered as a subset of mechatronics. Most of the robots are mechatronic but not all mechatronic systems are robots
