Looking for Electric Motor

09/15/2007 9:37 AM

I have an inquiry from a friend asking for an AC ELECTRIC MOTOR specifically for vertical application. The specification are as follows; explosion proof, 30HP, 460V, 3 phase. Should you require additional information, please post so I can have further inquiry from him.

The installation of the motor is for vertical application. But the installed motor of the plant is for horizontal installation, however it is installed in a vertical position.

Please, post websites that this motor are available.

Its quite simple.Motor can be used in Vertical Position by two methods. One is vertical Flange mounting which is not the case as I can Infer. The other is to use a foot mounted motor mounting it vertically with feet mounted on a wall or suitable support with shaft pointing downward or upwards. Normally first is directly coupled and second is used with a belt drive. This motor can be supplied easily .You can send ur enq to me at :nesubra@gmail.com.It will be better if you can send a sketch of mounting and coupling .The belt pull should be towards the base otherwise special construction is to be used.Pl. send the following details if u want a one to one replacement.

Frame Size., Speed in RPM or No of Poles , Voltage , Frequency , Insulation class, Ambient temp for which motor is made, Hazardous area classification whether Zone 1 Or 2A ,Ab as it is a Flame proof motor Particularly if it is 2c Hydrogen then few manufacturers only exist. All above can be taken from the nameplate of the motor.Hope above is useful.

Pump motors made for vertical use have bearings made for axial and radial loads. See if one of those can be adapted.
