Have you looked at guided busways, for starters? The concept involves passing an adapted road-going bus along a purpose-built roadway so that the driver doesn't have to use the steering wheel.

There isn't one in Basildon.

What about rubber-tyred Metros, like the lines in Paris? Go and Google!

Last time I worked in a field, all I found was mud. Please explain what you're looking for.

AGV "Automated Guided Vehicle"

I dont really have any experience in this feild but there are many companies making components for AGV's.

Try

AGV Electronics in Sweden: http://www.agve.se/home.htm

They make control systems that one can buy.

Or Sick in Gemany: http://www.mysick.com/partnerPortal/eCat.aspx?c=1&go=Finder&Cat=Row&At=Fa&Cult=English&Category=Produktfinder

Amongst other things they make guidance systems for AGV's.

There are others but they fail to come to mind at the moment.

Just Google it but don't use the acronym AGV. Use automatic guided vehicle (systems). You will get lots of hits. This kind of equipment at least in the US is almost always sold thru large value added distributors. Distributors that are in the field of "material handling" or "warehouse and distribution" are the ones that handle AGV's.
