Temporary Files: Can They Be Saved/Accessed Again?

09/26/2007 7:38 AM

Hi all chipologists

watching a video on Youtube or similar sites, takes a while to load(buffering). Once this is complete, the video can be played again uninterrupted. However, close the connection to the site and it's gone.

Suppose the video files are stored somewhere on my computer in a temporary file? How can I save/ access the video later ( if youtube or similar site does not provide for a 'download'link)?

by rightclicking the video or thumbnail i do not get an option to 'save target ', however, i must have downloaded somehow, in order to be able to view. Am I on the right track here?

Please shed some light on this for the not-so-clued-up computer users.

Thanks

The files are actually stored in a temporary file somewhere on the disk. It is only removed after a specific time (1 - 2 weeks).

Use explorer to find and copy it. I think with XP it is saved under "documents and settings . . . . . . Temp . . . "

Use search, files and folders, movies, will bring up all movie files. Any movies listed in temporary folders you want to save. Go file menu hit save as and put them in folder in my documents. When you down load the movie files from the Web site you can save them then to a permanent file.
