Solar Panels on Roads

09/28/2018 11:02 AM

A few months ago there was a posting about solar panels on roads. Here is an article with the results from some test installs.

It looks like the study verified what CR4 folks concluded, not a great idea...

Haha... yeah well we pretty much had that figured out, but still the output is surprisingly low, and of course no talk of maintenance...eh?....perhaps now la morte del silenzio...

,,,yes another bad idea laid to rest......

Nothing is mentioned about the coefficient of friction.

Glass is slippery when wet or icy. This is a road hazard with very little value added.

It worse than the paint they use on the lane markers.

I've slid the front wheel of my motorcycle just coming to a normal stop on these new painted lines, these solar panels would be like ice.

Lets let the road be a road, and use solar panels on roofs where they make more sense.

That DOA idea deserves an Ig Nobel award.

I propose that there be a Spork award, named after the ridiculous plastic utensils found at some fast food restaurants, for the design with the most incompatible combination of functions. This would qualify, IMHO...

Ya gotta watch out for that spooning, because it sometimes it leads to forking.

It's a testiment to the gullibility of people in the face of buzz words.

High Tech! - Solar - Saves lives - Shines livke a new dime - Future - Green!!!!!

They only needed one...

Not Sustainable

The stupidity of this idea is boundless.

Maybe not,

Maybe the forum can also come up with an idea that won't work and provide a proof of study to support it.

The FHWA gave them 2.5 million, how much can we get ?
