I work for marketing department and we need to update our spec sheets and I dont wanna spend so much time on them and I thought somebody can suggest me a tool so I can design and update them quickly. I will look for it more. thanks anyway

OK, then my first suggestion is to familiarize yourself with the software your company already uses to make marketing documents. Next, I would perform a web search for the type of cables you produce and examine your competitors marketing documents.

Now, go dazzle your supervisor with your expertise.

You could search for some of your products in Datasheets360 to see how they are set up. Then you can create a form in Word. If you use different software I'm sure you can find instructions for creating a form.

Don't you already have template examples, as in the existing company product datasheets?

As someone who works closely with our corporate marketing division I can tell you now that the branding and look of a companies literature is very important and so any changes made need to match or atleast blend in with existing corporate branding.

If major changes are considered to the look of literature then all similar literature needs to be changed at the same time also to ensure the corporate identity is, well identifiable by the customer and to ensure that the old and new datasheets are still easily identifiable and not confusing regarding which company they come from and the data on them.

Changing the existing datasheet for example to some random template (even if arguably better than the one already used) may radically alter the look and data layout provided and may result in difficulty and confusion for the customer and a loss of branding identity.

I remember a national semiconductor manufacturer had a problem with the company's discrete semiconductor datasheets using different templates to present data. A brilliant electrical engineer within the company caused a great deal of internal friction trying to get all foundries to standardized both the forms and the testing methodologies. This ultimately led to the realization that many components were duplicated and that some "superior" products were just artifacts of non-standardized tests.

That brings to mind the current miserable state of software affairs in our federal, state and local governments.

Agency A can't communicate with agency B because their software systems are incomparable.

My son who works for General Dynamics is currently working on upgrading software for NASA. Before that, (as field eng) he learned that the Army and Marine Corp. had the same problem. Marines couldn't use information he wrote for the Army, go figure.

You get what you pay for.

You can spend money, or time to get your templates.

Or, you could hire a documentation specialist for a week or two and get "marketing quality" specifications.

You, as a marketing person, do NOT what the first impression of your company (or you if you're presenting in person) to be, "These specs are poor/look cheap/wow, I hope their products are better than their marketing."

You are the first impression your company will present to potential customers. However you proceed, make it a good one.

it's just my opinion - but if you have the "relevant?" parameters listed (even in pure text/fax/typewriter style) and they are in the order of relevance most expect it's a "will do"

Give the in-use TDS to the expertise to add the modifications and new performances into it. This will attract more customers to purchase your product.
