Hire a reputable structural engineering firm. Make sure they are familiar with your local geology and building codes, wherever this plant resides.

There will always be a possibility an examination will cause or reveal structural problems. Hiring qualified professionals who have indemnity insurance will be far less risky than trying to learn all of the nuances from a public forum and doing it yourself.

If one of your candidate firms gives you some jargon or concepts you don't understand in their presentation then getting them explained at a public forum like CR4 is a good solution.

Good Luck

Why do you call it an ''experiment'' ...?

<...experiment...> Is that a pseudo-label for a non-destructive testing event with risk of catastrophic and irreversible self-disassembly being a possible outcome?

The Surveyor for the insurance company providing burst/collapse indemnity insurance cover on the facility's equipment is the first port of call.
