Thanksgiving at my house. I awoke at 04early and started to prepare the turkey-12.2 lb. I got one of those Ron popeil rotisserie ovens that we got off Ebay. After several tries trying to get the geared spit to turn without jamming ( I tied the bird first before putting in on the spit, then realized that I had to tie it up, after the bird was on the rack ) the cooker was set to go for the next 3 hours. While the oven was running I got to work on the potatoes ( Yukon gold ) , I used about 6 lbs, 2 1/2 sticks of butter, 1 qt of sour cream, 10 oz. of chives and enough half & half to make it nice and creamy. 17 family members showed up for dinner. They all brought several dishes. We had : 1 American style turkey, 2 Chinese style turkeys, egg rolls, 2 pies ( pumpkin and banana cream ) , green bean casserole, noodles, corn and lots of other yummy stuff

Celebrated with family and great food all day long. Its also a family tradition to listen to Arlo Guthrie's Alice's Restaurant. Try explaining it to an 8 year old....

Happy Thanksgiving to all my friends, and remember, wherever you find yourself for dinner today, make sure the Romaine in the salad has been tossed!

I have a brother who also was born on 11/22. My DOB is 11/28. When his BD is Thanksgiving mine usually falls on Thanksgiving the following year. Can't remember the last time Leap Year messed up this schedule. (Covered in another thread, I'm rehabing in #11. Across the street, #12 is a friend who was born on the same day, over 4000 miles away. Another friend, in #13 was born on 11/28 but not the same year).

Well my mother was born on 11/23/1928 and according to the Catholic Church's baptismal records I was born on 11/22/1927. This was quite a shock when I found out, however I do look pretty good for my age. In fact the Sister who retrieved my paperwork was amazed and confused. She made a pretty big deal of it with a great deal of prayer. I think she thought I was a Demon. Hmmmm
