Motor Trip in Torque Limit Fault in Danfoss F360 VFD

I have a 0.75kw 3phase 415V 50hz star connected motor. While running it in decoupled condition, it is working normally. But when it is coupled to a roller shaft, it is tripped in fault- torque limit (fault no:12). The vfd used here is danfoss make. Model- f360. I have tried increasing the torque limit threshold but it is still tripping. If anyone of you can help me on this, please share your knowledge and experiences.

The load characteristics need to be available. Shaft power is load torque multiplied by angular velocity in radian measure. One of the possibilities is that the motor is too small for the load.

Out here, we do not know what "roller shaft" is.

It recalls a heavy metal item grinding rock which turns slowly.

Only special motors have speeds below 375 rev/min [you did not give motor speed or what "roller" speed you want] - one would expect a gearbox or belt drive from motor for a low speed.

Unless you tell us this is part of something that worked OK & does not now - best guess is "motor/coupling not suitable for job".

Usually "breakaway from stationary" needs more torque than running - you could get some idea of torque needed by winding a rough [not smooth, grip required] rope around the roller & pulling on rope with a "fish-weighing" scale or adding water to a bucket hanging on the rope until it moves.

Approximately, a normal motor is not suitable for a load which takes over 30 seconds to get to normal motor speed - you did not write the time from start to trip

Are you using open loop or closed loop (PID) control?

Sounds like the bearing is shot....is the motor overheating? ..or doesn't it run long enough...? It could be the wrong vfd/motor combination if this is a new build...This motor could be sized with the vfd based on a gear reduction apparatus....

Fault 12 shows you are in current limit, which is not torque limit. Check, as it says in the instructions, 4-18 Current Limit. Put a clamp-on meter on the motor lead to see if your are somewhere close, after slowing down the accel ramp, to give you time to read it.

One common programming error on modern drives is to not input the correct number of poles, Parameter 1-39, modern software parameter sets allow you to specify a motor speed not necessarily equal to the number of poles at rated frequency, i.e. a 2 pole motor speed is 3000 rpm at 50Hz. The speed of the motor and poles should match your motor, i.e. 4 poles 1400 rpm motor.

Also regulator instability can be common if you don't do the static & dynamic testing. Try configuring the regulator as Volts/Hz to see if this helps. (Maybe you can't get on this FC360) Have you completed the AMA, set Parameter 1-29 to [1]?

Also, we can assume this is an induction motor. Maybe your speed ramp is set too fast, 0-10 seconds for 1400 rpm may be too fast to move the load, try 30 seconds.
