Look at the 4-bar linkage on a tackle box tray. It'll give you an idea of how such things work.

Good start, but the base of the tackle box remains level. Since the poster indicated wheels, I suspect he/she is looking for something akin to a scissor lift that can be used on say a sloped lawn, rather than just a flat floor. This requires some form of sensor that can detect non-level or non-vertical, then some active motion controller that can compensate for the error.

We need a lot more info: how big, how much weight, how steep a slope, how fast must it adapt, what energy is available, etc.

Well, now that I read your reply and re-read the original post, I finally got the idea.

How about a modified 4-bar linkage where the base is fitted with bar linkages going to a pivot in the middle of what would ordinarily be one of the linkages of the classic 4-bar link.

If I can figure out how to download a schematic from a CAD drawing, I'll do it soon.

Do you mean download or upload? If you want to post to the forum, just do a full or partial screen dump to make a jpg or png image file. Crop if necessary in your favorite image handler, then click on the camera icon in the tool bar and navigate to the image.

On a Mac, Shift-Command-4 allows you to select a part of the screen to copy. I assume there is a way to do that on a PC, but I rarely use one...

I guess I meant upload rather than download . . .

I'm going to have to plead, "Somewhat computer illiterate." I have uploaded pictures to CR 4 before, but I must admit that I don't know how to do a "partial screen dump."

After fooling around for a while on a CAD program, I decided that converting rotary motion to linear motion linearly was more difficult than I first imagined, although I did manage to do so fairly linearly within a range. The next difficulty came about when I tried to rotate the base while the table remained horizontal -- too many degrees of freedom. Correction of that problem required a separate rigid frame with sliding members.

I like the idea of using an inclinometer and a servo system to maintain level. Too much metal in the crap I envisioned.

My CAD program (VectorWorks) has an "Export Image file" menu. I put the things I want to show in a separate layer, then export that layer as a jpg - it automatically sizes the file to include only the area occupied by the objects.

The Mac OS has a built-in Save as PDF; for any document in any program, you just select 'Print', and one of the options is 'Save as PDF'. I use this a lot for sharing documents internationally with people who don't have whatever program I'm using at the moment. I haven't checked to see if CR4 can use PDFs.

Hi Dk & Bill,

In Windows, once you have the drawing (or anything else for that matter) on the screen, press "PrintScreen" (upper right corner of the keyboard). Now open a "Paint" session (Start-Programs-Accessories-Paint) and paste (Ctl-V). You can now crop and save as .jpg

regards,

R.

Ah - so the 'PrintScreen' button save the screen to the clipboard. That's Shift-Command-Option 3 or 4 on a Mac.

Thanks

Dick

This will do it if the device is aimed directly uphill. Mount another at right angles for any slope.
