Xlpe is "cross-linked polyethylene", and cannot be earthed, as it is an excellent insulator.

Xlpe has a different dielectric strength compared to other insulators like PVC, and this characteristic can be used to alter the characteristics of the cable compared to other insulation types, which can be of distinct advantage at higher frequencies.

What I can say is no difference; the use of XLPE cables is not dictated by the system whatever it is, XLPE cables are used in grounded and isolated/ungrounded systems.

For ungrounded system, the cable voltage-rating may be affected as, for these systems a single-line-to-ground fault causes the cable phase-insulation will be subjected to line voltage instead of phase voltage (i.e. 173% over-voltage).

Consequently, you may be forced to increase the voltage rating of whatever your cable is.

Good Luck... Samak

If yo use any equipment in an ungrounded neutral system you need to use full insultion say phase to phase insulation even for phase to neutral connected loads.
