Situations in which zero leakage is paramount, such as hazardous or valuable fluids; and where pressure difference is moderate.

Additionally, such a pump may be apecifed where contact with metal by the pumped fluid would reault in unwanted reactions, degrading the pump and contaminating the fluid.

A nonmetallic pump may also have lower high temperature limits than an otherwise similar pump that is not nonmetallic.

you may want to pump a material in an oxygen free environment such as nitrogen or argon or even vacuum.

I am interested in this discussion, but have never personally encountered a Magnetic Driven sealless pump that actually functions as sold by the reps. Then again, that was 20 years back.

That surprises you?

You don't become a rep by telling the truth. If you do that, you're an engineer.

They do have their place and I have used them to pump acids and such.

What did you use it for? And what were the problems or issues you faced?

Anywhere the wetting fluid would cause corrosion to the wetted solid, Mildred.

  • Plastic pumps work well with hydrochloric acid, for example.

You might find some applications in medical world, where they use glass containers and inert coated magnetic stirrers as routine.

Maybe in preparation and handling of bulk batches of vaccines or medication (insulin?).

I'll let you do the research.
