Stainless steel spacers

obviously you can have them made. what is the diameter?

We use a fitting called a face seal VCR fitting which utilizes a metal gasket of SS or Ni, that thick but only up to 1.5 inch dia.

Our application is in gaseous chemical delivery (ultra-pure) in the semi-con industry.

More specs gets you more response.

There will be pipe sizes from 1" - 10". It would have to have an I.D. that fit over the raised face portion of the mettalic flange and an O.D. that coincided with the piping flanges O.D.You are correct that I can fab. these but if I can find a source it will save me some headache of getting the fabed ones approved through the channels. I understand that this is something in the piping world that is not done due to that you can machine off the raised face to make the connnection as it should be. It is only when using the FRP material to Mettalic

And it has to be SS?

yes. it has to be 316...

I personally do not know of any ready made. However, this seems to be a pretty basic design and should be suitable for many manufacturing methods such as laser, punch, water jet etc. The cost of which would be considerably low.

Our company specializes in prototype and production stamping. We have made many different parts from 316 SS in many different configurations. We can make washers or spacers very cheap, most of the cost would be the material. Depending on the volume of parts needed, we could laser cut them from sheet stock or die cut them from coil.

I have used these many times in the past for near all sizes of pipe. Check with your pipe supply house they should be able to get them. In a pinch you can use washers. All you want to do is to make up the gap to prevent warping or cracking of the cast flat face flange. Most raised faces are 1/16" so the washers will work. These spacers are also used when a ring gasket is used instead of a full face gasket on flat face flanges. If you need to you may have to grind them down a little bit or go thicker if you use a thicker gasket.
