except v, c, r, capacitor, inductor, you can measure power, frequency, period, audio level, temperature, humidity, ph, speed etc.

with you can test tv set, audio, cd, media and instruments work state and fault. music insrtment repair, electronic game repair, engineering test... countless.

recently multimeter is real multimeter, they have many function like oscillacope and can display carve and process data and adopt sample and keep data.

I would love if i could get any such application in detail, a truely practical example like say..for the communication towers-how and where could one use the multimeter, what would be the key parametes that one could see at the field and what should be the procedure of taking the measurements. What would be the precautions needed while doing so,etc

If it is practical examples you are looking for, the following are some of the more common uses for a multimeter:

Checking for voltage on both sides of a suspected bad molded case circuit breaker or fuse.

Using the ohmmeter function to verify the value of resistors

Using the ohmmeter or diode function to determine if a diode is functioning properly or shorted

Using the ammeter function to determine the actuall current being drawn by a device.

One application I've been taught (though never had an opportunity to try) was determining where a break is in a shielded wire, particularly coax cables, using a capacitance meter.

By measuring the capacitance between the shield and the inner conductor, you can determine where a break is. If you calculate the ratio of C₁ vs C₂, you can even determine the location of the break with reasonable accuracy.

Like I said, I've never tried it myself but our instructor did demonstrate it. True enough, he determined the location of the break to within inches in a 20 foot cable.

P.S. You don't need two meters. Just use one and measure the capacitance at both ends.

Another useful application of the voltmeter and ohm meter, that is similar in nature, is for determining the internal impedance of any device. A variable resistor will also be needed.

I will assume everyone reading this has a basic understanding of circuits so I will not go into the details of sizing the variable resistor.

The variable resistor is connected in series with the device and an AC source. The variable resistor setting is adjusted until the voltage drop across the device and across the resistor are equal. At tha point, measure the resistance of the variable resistor which will be equal to the internal impedance of the device.

One interesting use is to measure flame rectification current to adjust the pilot safety circuit on a gas furnace or oven. -- JHF

Most of the features and application are already present in present day multimeters from cheapest to high end . you can add units of conversions like watts , hp , joules directly displaying on screen that may help primary technicians , also adding magnetic flux density sensor through inductive pick up for motors , generators , transformers , relay , in built . also single switch for all parameters may happen to be inovative , like showing voltage across the circuit , current drawn in one go , resistive , capacitive , inductance on single reading without changing probe inputs and switching between parameters on single display will help in SMD workouts
