Diesel Generators - What is DCA ?

10/20/2007 9:53 PM

Hi, I was asked to define " DCA " in terms of Deisel Power Generators. I have no clue, does anyone have any idea to what this can mean ?

Suggest you try

http://www.jobsite-generators.com/multiquip_deisel_generator_dca_10spx3c.html

for Kubota who makes the thing. Hit the 'contact us' button and ask them. Might have to do with the automatic amp output control system on it.

If you don't find out there, you can always say "kuklamu!", and fuggedaboudit.

DCA is a borate/nitrite based additive. DCA4 is a phosphate, nitrite and olybdate based additive.

Either are used as coolant additives in diesel engines to prevent 'cavitation'. That's the process where tiny holes develop in the cylinder walls due to the extremely high compression ratios diesels use to fire the fuel. These holes allow coolant to leak into the cylinders when the engine is not running and pressure in the cylinders to blow in to the coolant when it is running.

Do a search on the web looking for diesel engine coolant additives and you'll get the full story.

Well that sounds better than dichloroethane. Though nitrites not such a great thing.

Try Diesel Coolant Additive? I know Cummins sell this (called "DCA")as an anti corrosion cooling system additive. It may be worth having a look at their web site? On the other hand, if you are referring to the electrical (alternator or generator), it could refer to DC Amps (field or excitation current).
