4 Inch Chassis Punch

10/31/2019 1:49 PM

I recently remember seeing a contractor using a 4" chassis punch powered by a 3/8 battery powered drill. It went through the electrical panel like butter.

The last type of chassis punch I used was many years ago,and it took a lot of effort to punch a 4 inch hole in sheet metal.

This punch was geared super low,and the drill had no problem turning it.

I figure some type of planetary gear set,as it was not very large or heavy.

I don't remember the name or manufacturer, and I cannot find anything like it on the web.

Thanks in advance for any and all help on finding this tool.

Might be one of these...

Here's a nice one...not cheap @ $1800.

I think that is it.It is really amazing to see it breeze through 10 gauge SS with no problem.

It is far more time consuming to do it with manual or hydraulic punches.

For a busy commercial/industrial electrical contractor, this could pay for itself in a short time in labor savings.

Thanks for the link!

This is what we use,

Based on the metal thickness and AIC rating, we are limited to about two inched on the 6 ton unit, we have not purchased the 10 ton, but the shears and crimper are COOL

What you need is one of these I'm told that one of its last tasks was producing pressings for Concorde aircraft.

Like a knockout?

Greenlee has a good share of the market as far as ease,... here’s a 4” and with hydraulics makes it quite easy.
