Four locations equidistant from the center of gravity on the outer perimeter encompassing the bulk of the total weight of the transformer....

On large transformers the jacking pads are welded integral to the tank at time of manufacture usually on each corner or beside a corner. The sty for jacking is built up from the ground or concrete transformer plinth, out of blocks of hardwood timber formed into a criss cross pattern with the top blocks being placed to spread the load.

The jacking is done in incremental lifts with the rise being followed with packing so minimal lift is undertaken without backup timber to negate problems caused by a jack failure.

If you are referring to detachable jacking pads then their placement needs to be installed with consultation with the transformer manufacturer to ensure safety is not compromised.

Some <...transformer...> units don't need them.

Size is important. Especially in hanging wallpaper.

On the perimeter, of course, on all supporting parts
