What are the wattage ratings of each of the appliances?

What is the wattage of the installed lighting? +

---------------------------------------------------------

= total power consumption

What wattage surplus capacity do you require? +

-----------------------------------------------------

= total power capacity required.

Check IEEE, and ASHRAE web sites both have documents relating to power consumption of DATA centers as guideline .Your server vendor is the best person to advice.because the power consumption varies for each application.estimation by thumb rule is perfect way to disaster.
