Rubber seals approx rejection rate data

Hi All,

Please any body can provide the info on the approximate rejection rate of Rubber seals like O-rings,gaskets,membranes in any kind of application.

May be data on failure before the inteded time of functioning or failure at DOA(Death on arrival) will helpful.

Your question cannot really be answered.

I was a Distributer for "PARKER O-Rings & Seals".

During all those years we never received a single defective seal or O-ring.

Seals and O-rings are designed out of different materials in order to have the maximum life in a certain application.

90% of seal failures were due to: Improper installation; fluid incompatibility; gross contamination, (dirt); or heat.

The other 10% was just plain wear after years of service.

If you are having problems with seals I would suggest that you change suppliers or discuss your application with their engineer, (the engineering is normally free,).
