Looking for Engineering Job in England

01/27/2020 8:47 AM

Does anybody know of good companies that offer engineering apprenticeships in England please? Preferably london/oxford area, that I can apply directly to. I did a BTEC in engineering in school and got a distinction, it was my best grade and I would like to do it for a job. I put my CV on job sites like indeed but the only responses I have had are not legit. I have had some scam calls and one man that wanted me to do a video interview but when I searched his number to find out more info about the company to prep for the interview, it did not come up with any company page, the top result was a phone number lookup site that said it was a scam agency, doing fake interviews to get peoples personal information. I have had no real job offers by using those so think I should directly contact some companies instead if anyone knows any good ones that take someone with just a BTEC? I did not go to uni

Consider contacting your past classmates, and/or, your school admin and/or, (lecturers), to find out if they know where to find, or how better to search for, jobs...

Consider going to relevant conventions, and/or, organizational meetings and then ''network''...

If you have to, then settle for not-so-good companies, just to get relevant experience (I had to work four-and-a-half years to get a (junior) position...)

Good luck, and smart patience, can pay-off.

The Formula 1 racing teams' engineering HQs are mostly in your preferred area (if you have any interest in motor vehicles you will know who they are). Worth a direct approach if that industry appeals to you, I would say. Good luck!

Try this link, it covers the top companies for apprenticeships, including engineering.

https://www.ratemyapprenticeship.co.uk/advice/download-guide-to-career-options-2020

It also has details of a recruitment fair in Birmingham (UK) at the end of February.

Hope this helps.

Network Rail, one of the country's largest employers, has a comprehensive apprenticeship scheme; try LinkedIn, perhaps?

I'm in the US, so take this with that in mind. My first job (18 1\2 years duration ) was out of 9 years US Navy. The only trainig I had was Navy tech schools, and job experience. I called people I knew (none Navy, all had transferred on, so, social contacts ) and asked if they knew who might be hiring in my field, if they knew a manager in that cpmpany (NOT just an HR rep, they just file CVs agaonst POSSIBLE future use), and could I use my contact as a referring source? Then I made contact with the managers, set up a meeting\interview if possible, and ultimately (it took about a month ) got hired. PM if you've got questions about the process. I'll be happy to try to answer.

This is a very popular topic in England because work allows you to maintain a standard of living. I think that education is the main tool of business and self-realization. Such resources allow students to understand the concepts of finance and credit. I am sure that you are looking for a good job that will give you pleasure.

Thank you Imogen. But no, I am not currently looking for any work. I am retired, have purchased a farm, and am now farming. And that truly is work I love. I don't have a large retirement, but since I grow my own food, and even provide for others, I don't really need a large retirement. I just enjoy being My Own Boss. Fruits of a good 41-year career.

It would be most interesting about engineering education. Since I love aviation, I would like to be an engineer in this field.
