Old Markon Generator Trouble

01/27/2020 8:29 PM

Hi. Can anyone advise me on repairing or replacing with electronic, the AVR on an old Markon 15kVA 3-phase generator. The original has 2 x 3-phase transformers, one of which broke loose and seriously damaged one of the coils. The rotor is also 3-phase (4 slip-rings).

Thanks

Wow, that was quick and to the point. Thank you. I am not convinced that that AVR will be able to supply enough power for a 15kVA generator, but your response 1) does give me more confidence to find a higher-rated one. 2) Confirms the circuit arrangement.

so will this somehow energize the third leg and does it subsequently lower the output by a third?

he stated that one winding was damaged.

Well I would hope the damage has been repaired, as this would seem to be a prerequisite to normal function...

one winding of the old feedback circuit is damaged. The electronic AVR will render that redundant.

Looking again, this won't work. There are 3 coils (4 brushes) on the rotor, at least oner will need to be fed with DC. This diagram is for a brushless system.
