how can i select the capacitor rating for single phase motor?

Some possibilities:

  • Contact the motor manufacturer's technical helpline
  • Replace the failed one with a similar one
  • Use a similar motor as an example.

If the motor had a tag on it to tell you its operating voltage, it also states the cap needed. This is important. To small of a size makes the other windings over work and run hot, oversizing the cap makes the capacitor winding work too hard and it will overheat.

Previous responded had the right answer. Also, the voltage rating of the cap should be at least 50% greater than the operating voltage of the motor.
