How Can I Calculate Weight Of Zinc Sheet?

10/31/2007 11:51 PM

zinc sheet is having 5meter in length x 2 meter in width x 4mm in thickness.

I don't know density of zinc.

please if someone knows please give me solution.

Density of elemental zinc is 7.13g/cc at 25C. (Will be different if you have an alloy.)

500cm x 200cm x 0.4cm x 7.13g/cc = 285,200g = 28.52kg.

If you are speaking of a solid zinc sheet, this is correct. If you are referring to the coating weight of zinc on steel sheet, you will have to conduct a weigh-strip-weigh analysis to remove the zinc from the sheet and measure the weght.

Of course. I leave it to the original poster to make that determination and formulate an intelligent question that will yield the results he requires. I will answer nearly any question I am competent to answer, but out of professional courtesy and respect, I do not make a habit of second-guessing the questioner.

Good job! Quick and simple. Note that the density for zinc is listed as 7.133 g/cc, Handbook of Chem. & Phy., 87th Ed., and it is shown as 7.14 in several other sources.

For some reason that I am not aware of, the density of zinc is not always given at the same temperature. I picked the first one I found that actually specified temperature. I hope it's close enough for his purpose, I really don't want to get into a thermal expansion calculation! Besides, I seriously doubt the dimensions are measured accurately enough to really notice a difference. Then we have issues like squareness, oil-canning...............

PLEASE DON'T SHOUT!

People here are trying to get some sleep.

The replies above give sufficient information for that calculation to be carried out readily. Invitation declined.

Typing the word "zinc" into a Google search box will give you dozens of links to sites where you can find the density.

Typing "density of zinc" will give an answer without even using the resulting links!

Please try to look for things like this for yourself, before posting trivial questions.

You can find anything and density of any material on internet except density of women. Because to understand a woman you must to spend your life time.

Do you agree with me? If not please try.....

How Can I Calculate Weight Of Zinc Sheet?

Not wising to be pedantic, but I guess you mean the mass of the sheet.

mass = Volume x Density (kg) (as already explained)

Weight is actually = mass x acceleration due to gravity (g) (Newtons)
