Motor ID Issue

11/01/2007 7:42 AM

There was a recent question on how to identify if a 3 phase motor was wired for 208 or 440 I have lost the diagram on an older machine and need the same answer .Can anyone recall that discussion or explain how to identify how a motor is wired without the schematic

Have a look inside the terminal box. There should be six terminals. If three of them are linked together with two jumpers then it's in star, and may be suitable for the higher voltage. If three pairs of terminals are linked together with one jumper for each pair then it's in delta and may be suitable for the lower voltage.
